ICT as Communicative Tool

Communication is a two-way procedure in which the sender and receiver communicate. Communicative tool refers to applications, apps, technology or tools which enable easy communication between the teacher and the students amongst students beyond the physical barrier either by learning space, time, or both within and outside of the classroom. Examples of the communicative tools include social medias-mail, discussion groups, and chat rooms, virtual, online meeting room, blogging, etc.

Communicative tools helps in:

  •  building good relationship between students and the teacher.
  •  increasing profitability: Technology allows jobs to be completed faster and more correctly by enhancing efficiency and sharing information or messaging more quickly.
  •  providing clarity and coherence so that the learner may understand what you're saying.
  • sharing our knowledge when we communicate. (The more interactions there are, the more learning occurs.)

We can integrate communicative tool in education though:

· Collaborating and communicating using Google Docs, Google Slides, etc. in teaching and learning process.

·   Communicating using social media apps for sharing information, ideas with friends, peers and teacher.

· E.g. Messaging-communicating or sharing supplementary files such as ppt, pdf, videos, images etc. using social medias in teaching and learning purpose.

· Integrating using Blog as communicative tool to share the thoughts, views and express of one’s ideas to the larger community.

· Corresponding the information using Email account and well as other sources medium of communicating form such LMS-VLE and Google Classroom.

There are two types of communicative tools which are Synchronous communication and asynchronous communication. Synchronous communication is also called real time communication, in which users must be simultaneously connected at the same time. Asynchronous communication does not requires the people to communicate and be logged on the internet at the same time.
